Picture Book Review -Robert McCloskey-A Time of Wonder

"A Time of Wonder" is an interesting picture book because while it is sold in the children's book section of stores it is not necessarily a book for children. It is a fantastic book, worthy of the Caldecott Medal which it won. It however is a very sentimental story, long, for adults this book would be filled with sentement and memory. However the beauty of the pictures within the book will hold interest for children who look at it.
The story itself is simple, about childhood along the coast, and the beauty of the land in the area. The story is uniquly written in the second person, harolding a time when children would realize in literature lessons that they had studied first and third person stories and would ask if their was a second person. Many teachers responded that none had been done well, not realizing that this picture book existed.
